One of the things I learned while taking photography workshops is composition. In this photo I have a puzzle comp. The rocks in the foreground follows the outline of the reflection of the mountains in the water.

Jefferson Park, OR
Several months ago I decided I wanted to photograph the solar eclipse from Jefferson Park, Oregon. A month before the solar eclipse Andrew Morgan and I hiked up to Mount Jefferson Wilderness to figure out exactly where we needed to be. I have a couple apps on my phone that allow me to preplan where I want to photograph. They also have live virtual view. I can hold my phone up and I can see where the sun or stars are going to be on a spacific date in the future. I was going to photograph the solar eclipse from Bays Lake with Mt. Jefferson in the background with several stages of the eclipse over the top of Mt Jefferson. The next day I was at work and heard the bad news. Lightning had struck and started a fire near Jefferson Park. To my dismay the fire was heading towards the park. I was pretty disappointed when I heard the park was going to be closed for the solar eclipse. Now I'm not sure where I'm going to photograph the solar eclipse from. Oh well I guess I will have to just enjoy it, even if it is from my own yard. Yes I am one of the lucky ones who lives in the path of totality.
